Interested in the role of a Therapy Assistant:

Therapy Assistants provide one on one home and community based therapy to children and clients across various locations in Perth.

Many ISADD Therapy Assistants are students who move on to their chosen profession after graduation. As a result, we often have a need to recruit more. Successful applicants will be provided with training, ongoing supervision and opportunities for career development and progression. Most positions are offered on a casual, part time basis, with flexibility as to number of hours worked and locations.

Under supervision of a Key Worker, as a Therapy Assistant you will implement 2-hour sessions in a variety of settings. This is a casual role for which we are seeking those with the capacity to commit to a minimum of 10 hrs per week inclusive of after school session times.  Sessions involve engagement with the children whilst implementing intervention programs including skill acquisition programs, positive behaviour support programs and data collection to support making meaningful gains for all children. 

ATTRIBUTES

  • Engaging – a natural disposition to interact, have fun, and engage children is essential to support building rapport with children. 

  • A fast learner –to make adjustments to intervention quickly and efficiently according to lead practitioner instructions. 

  • Self-directed- to engage in professional development and actively seek knowledge to further your own skills.

    Effective at communicating– to communicate with clients, caregivers, and our intervention team using written and verbal skills.  

  • Understand professional boundaries – to develop and maintain a positive, professional and objective relationship with a child's family.

  • Responsible and committed - as families rely on the Therapy Assistants to be committed, attend sessions supporting continuity of service. 

  • Work autonomously – as on completion of training the majority of sessions are conducted independently in the child’s home.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)

  • Police Clearance Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

  • First Aid and CPR Certificate 

  • Current Drivers Licence

  • Reliable transport and willingness to travel

EXPERIENCE 

  • Preferred but not essential, as training will be provided
